I've been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max every day for a few weeks now, and it definitely has a lot of use if you're looking to upgrade. The titanium design is eye-catching, and the new operating buttons are helpful. I'm also impressed with the improved optical zoom and glad USB-C charging is finally here.

Reasons to buy iPhone 15 Pro Max
Lighter, smaller titanium design
One of the most surprising things about the iPhone 15 Pro Max when you pick it up is its weight. It weighs 7.8 ounces, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 8.47 ounces. This is thanks to a new titanium strap design, which is lighter than the stainless steel straps used previously.
Apple also managed to reduce the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, making the device shorter and narrower. With a new contoured design with rounded edges, iPhone 15 Pro Max is more comfortable to hold and use.
Smart new action buttons
The iPhone 15 Pro Max replaces the ringer switch with an action button that enters silent mode with a long press, but it does a lot more. Based on a zoom camera comparison with the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro Max performs well in the 5x zoom range, delivering a lot of detail and excellent dynamic range. But its digital zoom is a step behind Samsung.
Extra long battery life

Reasons to skip the iPhone 15 Pro Max
durability issues
Although Apple touts how strong the iPhone 15 Pro Max's titanium is, the flagship didn't perform particularly well in some durability tests.
In the iPhone 15 Pro drop test, it was found that the rear camera housing fell, but the iPhone 14 Pro did not.
Regarding overheating issues
Several iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users have complained about overheating, which Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo attributed to Apple's thermal design.
Testing this using the infrared camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max as well as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, we didn't notice either phone getting particularly hot when first charging it, although the iPhone 15 Pro Max got hotter than the Samsung phone when gaming.

Overall, I think the iPhone 15 Pro Max is worth upgrading, especially if you have an older iPhone 13 Pro Max, and especially the iPhone 12 Pro Max or earlier. You get a vastly improved camera system and a great ProMotion display with always-on functionality, a lighter, smaller design, and killer battery life.
The action buttons are a handy addition, though I wish Apple would let you perform multiple shortcuts at once, and I'm excited to play all the console-quality games coming out of the new Pro Max.
